Dorothy (Poppy) Soltanoff 
1924-2016

Poppy Soltanoff grew up in Brooklyn, NY, earning her BA in Art History from Hunter College and her MFA from the University of Iowa, where she studied under the painter Philip Guston.

 

Based in Fairfield County, Connecticut, she set up her paints along the shore and city streets, in the landscape and the studio, and in travels throughout the world. "When I don't have a paintbrush or pen in my hand," she said, "I'm drawing in my mind."
